What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?            It is the science of making machines/technology that can  think like humans.   AI has begun to be normalized and even desired in society.   While it may be of benefit to some aspects of our  daily  lives, is it all too good to be true?           Some say AI can be traced all the  way back to classical philosophers. These philosophers attempted to describe human thinking as a symbolic system . But  it was not formally introduced until  1955 at  Dartmouth  college in New  Hampshire, where the term  artificial   intelligence was coined.                   While AI has been around longer than most people would have thought it really hasn't come to light until recently. Here are two timelines on artificial intelligence and how it has advanced until the early 2000's.          For our presentations each group was given two subjects to research and make a power point  on to present to the class. The subjects were sports, economy, mental

AI in different sectors- Gabriela Padron

AI IN DIFFERENT SECTORS AI or artificial intelligence are machines that can think like humans and do the basic things we can do. It has been around for some time now but it has really shown up or been recognized more now than ever before. AI can do many incredible things and has benefits, but whether we should trust it completely is a question most people are concerned about.  This month's presentations consisted of areas AI has been taken in, the benefits, and the government's involvement or support. Each group had 2 different sectors. Group 1 did Education and "Fun" life, Group 2 did Sports and the Economy, and Group 3 did Mental health and Careers. What you will be reading next are the things I took away from groups 1 and 3 and what I learned during my part of the presentation for group 2. Group 1 As I said before, group 1 did AI in education and "fun" life. For education, in order for AI to work the system has to be diverse and promise inclusiveness an

Angelica Vasquez November 6, 2023 Introduc tion :    S ince its inceptio n in the 1950s, AI has evolved remarkably, going through various stages and approaches. From symbolic logic to the rise of machine learning and the emergence of deep neural networks, advances in this field have been noteworthy and have allowed AI to overcome numerou s challenges that once seemed insurmountable.   The impact of AI on our daily lives is undeniable. It has transformed the way we interact with technology and has permeated a wide range of sectors and activities. Currently, AI is integrated into devices and services we use on a daily basis , from virtual assistants on our phones to recommendation systems on streaming platforms and social media   Therefore, I found it fitting and captivating that this topic was chosen for the class. The presentations were divided into three groups, each of which would address two different sectors where AI has been incorporated. The selected topics for this project w
